Ethiopian food.

A new experience!

Mango Juice - on the go, or not on the go?

This was served in the Ethiopian restaurant "The Smart Village". The locals were also surprised :)

Tusker, the local beer

Shuba's uni friend Shiro, proudly shows the pictures with her and Shuba on her fridge!

For some reason Shuba censured the pictures from being posted on the blog, if we get enough votes (> 10) we might be posting it! - pls leave the votes in the comments! -

Shacks in Nairobi...

Today we visited the shacks of Nairobi. Compared to Cape Town, there is a lot of activity. Instead of hanging around and waiting for work, people are active an try to sell charcoal, hardware, clothes or make furniture.

An eye opening experience, again...

Ps - shuba hopes to her experiences very soon! - be on the lookout for that! -

Cape Town from Table Mountain!

Getting our car!

Breakfast Day 4

We can't get enough of the Table mountain! This time without clouds, the locals call it: without table cloth. The view captured from cafe Sofia on Kloofstreet in Cape Town.

Today we're trying to get up there, we'll keep you updated!

Breakfast graced by Table Mountain

Cape Town, South Africa- day 2:
19th Feb, 2011 - 10am

I experienced heaven on earth today. We stepped out of our room to greet Cape Town. As always, starts with a good hearty breakfast topped with good coffee.

We were recommended to try out a German bakery opposite Long Street. Took a stroll there under the sunny Cape Town weather along with the friendly breeze.

It was delightful.

When we saw the menu our hearts glowed and opted for the continental breakfast with coffee. The waiter gave us a funky beeper tool to carry with us and apparently it beeps when the food is ready. We'll need to pick up our meal at the counter when that happens. (KL we need one of these)

Chose a good spot outside, we went al-fresco.

Once we picked our spot and raised our head to enjoy the view... our hearts and eyes sparkled when we saw the cloud capped Table Mountain waving to us.

Our eyes couldn't believe our sight.

The clouds were so clumpy and danced around the mountain tip gracefully. Why this happens and why this mountain is unlike any other mountain? Will tell you more when I visit the mountain soon.

Beep..beep... ohh time to pick up our breakfast.

It came complete with egg scrambled wrapped in warm croissant and coffee. Yippie!

The meal was delicious and view was marvellous.

For a moment, Paul reminded be of how much time has changed since the Apartheid when we were served by the Native Africans (the blacks). In the 60's (If I recall correctly).. it wasn't possible for the Native Africans to be in such close civilised contacts with the whites.

Today, we got a glimpse of how the whites and blacks mingle in a safe environment respectfully.
Thank you Table Mountain for gracing our table with your presence!

Love,

Dhubai airport welcomes Paul

We had a 3.5 hours of stop-over at Dhubai airport. Like a zombie walking around looking for a supermarket we were...

My friend Shiro from Nairobi asked for something very simple, Tim Tams.. and i thought it was a decent request.. only to find out, it's not easy to come by :(

Our hunt at Dhubai airport disappointed us..no Tim Tams. (Sorry gorgeous). We settled for Loakler. She sounded delighted when we told her of our 2nd best option. But I am sure there are no replacements for Tim Tams.

I discovered the joy of Tim Tams in Australia. Every other foreign students who were from the same uni as me, boasts about Tim Tam endlessly. I guess, Shiro also fell in love with Tim Tams when she was studying there with me.

At the airport we were amused to find a classy cafe called, Paul!

That entertained us.

What can we say? we're simple mortals with low laugh-lines (courtesy of Paul's vocab).

Thanks Paul for making Paul's day!

Glee inspired me to turn on my PC at 1.38am to write this posting.
Yes, I'm a Glee fan (notice how I even gave it a capital G?)...
Anyways...

Today's episode was about faith. Well, they actually used the word GOD. I prefer to call it faith because we have different terms to relate to our faith.

No, this posting isn't about religion or God. It's about believing in something!

I think it's tough going through life not believing in something. No matter how strong one is.
Even the strongest have their weakest moments.
All we need is to have faith in something larger than ourselves.
That something could be anything.
That 'something' lifts us up when we're down. Pushes us forward when in doubt. Soothes us when we're in grief.

This is to your FAITH. Anything.
Each to its own.

Don't lose faith!
